SASANIAN KINGS. Kavadh I, second reign, 499-531. Drachm (Silver, 28 mm, 4.09 g, 2 h), DA (Darabgird), RY 41 = AD 529. Draped bust of Kavadh I to right, wearing a mural crown with a frontal crescent and a korymbos set on crescent; star to left and right; before head, ‘kwʾt ʾp̄zwn’ = ‘Kawād abzōn’ (‘Kavadh, increase’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, DA (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type III/2. SNS III/2, type Ic/1b. Beautifully toned. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.
